The specialized international seminar "Proactive budgeting and openness of the budget process: challenges of digital transformation" will be held on June 26, 2021 (Saturday) in St. Petersburg within the framework of the international joint conference "Internet and Modern Society (IMS-2021)".
The first all-Russian youth platform for joint shaping of the digital future
The PB Type Group Documents was presented to interested parties during a digital coffee round of the German PB network buergerhaushalt.org.
During the 2021 conference of the International Research Society for Public Management (IRSPM), the EmPaci team chaired a panel on the topic “Critical Perspectives on Participatory Budgeting”.
Another meeting with residents took place in the courtyard at 190 Moskovsky Prospekt. It was attended by Vladimir Ushakov, head of the Moskovsky district of St. Petersburg, Alexei Makarov, deputy of the Legislative Assembly, and Sergey Mitelev, director of Lensvet. This is the fourth meeting where residents are deciding how their yard should change in the current participatory budgeting cycle. One of the main problems concerns lighting. Director of "Lensvet" Sergei Mitelev, who came to the meeting at the invitation of the head of the district, confirmed that the problem will be resolved next year without fail. As a result of the general discussion, the residents made a unanimous decision to approve the improvement project, which should begin this summer.

Third co-creation meeting with citizens and project architect where 3 projects of territory improvement based on the citizen’s ideas were presented. Citizens in accordance with the voting results chose one of the projects. The next meeting will be devoted to the discussing of landscaping to further shaping the project and make it reality.
Second co-creation meeting with citizens and project architect. The citizens discuss about suitable playground equipment, which should offer something for children in every age. Together they have found a consensus and the project architect will come up with a new version the next meeting. There is already excitement, how it will look like.
Sharing the results of 1st pilot and assess what how the experience might lead to recommendations and lessons-learned for the 2nd pilot.
First meeting of administration with citizens, where two chosen territories for development were discussed. In addition, Empaci project and information about PB were presented.
Publish information about the winning proposals on social networks
Training and information for citizens involved in the PB process (“Guardians”) (4 Guardians participted)
Inform other municipalities and interested citizens about the EmPaci project
learners and teachers got information on the application if their proposals and the Empaci project was promoted on the online learning platform of the school
Get valuable information about the best cases in EU and promoting Empaci project and Rietavas’ involvement in PB.
